Parts of Motheboard

The motherboard is a vital component that is responsible for smooth processing of data occurs on a computer. There was a little damage to the motherboard will cause damage to the entire system, because the motherboard is place for all the hardware components attached. Start from the graphics card, RAM, hard disk, optical drive, all combined into one unit by using the port in the motherboard. Below is list of general motherboard component :

CPU Socket : This section is the place laid a processor even with the many small holes that are used to place a pin processor.

RAM Slots : Places to install the memory module (RAM). For a modern motherboard, usually there are 4 slots DDR2 PC 6400 with a capacity of up to 8GB and support for dual-channel configuration.

Power Port : Old type use 20 +4 pin, while new types have been using 24 +4 pin. Through this port all the power needed by the system supplied through the power supply.
Serial ATA Port : The new type motherboard using this port. Usually there are 4 to 8. It is used for hard disk drives where using SATA interface. Cable that is used is usually smaller than the IDE cable. SATA technology is growing rapidly, at this time is to reach the next generation of SATA-2 with data transfer speeds up to 3Gb/s.

IDE Port : It is only found in old type of motherboard. That is used to install the hard disk drive and optical drives, it has an large size of the cable width.

Chip-set : A chip that regulates the data traffic on the system. There are 2 types of chip set with a different function with each other. North-bridge chip-set is located between the processor and RAM slots. This chip-set works so RAM and processor modules can work together (set of traffic data between the CPU and RAM). South-brigde chip-set is located on the bottom. Either the bottom of the processor or under the slot for graphics cards. Chip-set handle this work flow of traffic data from the graphics card, hard disk and other motherboard peripherals.

AGP / PCI Express Slot : Used to install the graphics card. AGP slot is rarely found in the new type, because the resulting bandwidth is not sufficient for the needs of graphics at this time. Now, almost all motherboards use the PCI Express slot, with a larger bandwidth. In fact, there are motherboards that have up to 4 PCI Express slots.

PCI (Peripheral Component Interconnect) : Is the place to put additional cards such as sound card, LAN card, TV tuner, and others. It is working at 33 Mhz frequency.

BIOS (Basic Input Output System) : Form of software that is embedded in the motherboard where the energy supplied from the motherboard battery. All initial configuration of the hardware that is installed can be accessed and changed through the BIOS.Many motherboard manufacturers other products that are complete with many additional features that will make the compatibility of various hardware increase.

Best Hardware For Your Computer

For most of the people who own a computer, the process of looking for and purchasing new hardware is one big headache. You are probably thinking about having the latest version of each and every hardware accessory available for your computer, since you want it to be the best of the best. However, this is not always the best idea.

It could be the case that the newest hardware is still mostly untested. You will never know how this new hardware will respond when you attach it to your computer. It could work perfectly well and never give you any trouble, or else it could lead to serious issues once you attach it to your computer.

So what is the best way to know for sure which hardware part you need to buy?
Well, for starters, reading the reviews that other people write is a good idea. You will be able to see the positive things that the hardware offers to its users. On the other hand, you will also be able to know of any problems that you might experience if you buy the hardware in question and if there are any solutions available to such problems.

Apart from this, you can see how the majority of people feel about the part. If there is a high percentage of people who recommended the product, then you know that you will probably be safe if you do actually purchase it. However, you will not want to go anywhere near the new hardware part if the majority of the people have faced issues when using such hardware.

Are You Going To Buy Laptop

Laptops are the natural evolution in the ever changing world of the computer. The improvement of technology has allowed the computer to shrink from being as big as a house, to the size of book.Their compactness, and portability makes the laptop particularly useful to the professional, the person on the go, and the student. However, laptops can get rather expensive so you should take care to choose a laptop with the right amount of features, but not so many that they needlessly inflate the price.
Here are 9 basic features that you should consider before you purchase your next laptop:
1. Weight and Size: When it comes to weight and size, you should consider that the bigger a laptop is, the heavier it is. A small enough size should be chosen, but not so small that it's uncomfortable. The smaller the laptop, the more awkward it will be to type on that tiny keyboard.
2. Display: The display, or screen is directly tied in to the size of the laptop. You should choose the biggest display possible. Also, a decision has to be made between Active, and Passive Matrix.Active Matrix is more expensive, but is recommended since pictures come out sharper and moving images play out smoother. Passive Matrix is cheaper, but the picture quality is not as good.
3. Batteries: There are 3 main types of Batteries. They are Li, NiMH, NiCad. What those letters stand for is not important. All you need to know is to always choose Li since they are higher quality, and provide a longer life. However, they are slightly more expensive. If one is strapped for money, then NiMH is acceptable. They're slightly cheaper, but must be recharged every hour or so. Under no circumstances should NiCad be chosen. They're extremely low quality, and have no staying power.
4. Hard-Drive: Most laptops start with at least 4.3 gigabytes, or GB, of hard drive space. However, you can get more hard-drive space if you think you’ll need it.
5. CD-DVD Drive: To be honest, a laptop doesn’t really need either one. But at least one should be added since most software comes in CD form nowadays. If you choose a DVD-ROM drive, then a CD-ROM drive won't be needed since a DVD-ROM drive can read CD-ROMs.
6. RAM, or Random Access Memory: This is the Short Term Memory of you computer. How much does a laptop need? The simple answer is about 32 megabytes, or MB, of RAM, but 64 is highly recommended. This is due to the fact that laptops are difficult to upgrade. Because of this, you might as well get more then you’ll currently need, and look ahead.
7. The "brain" otherwise known as the CPU: The Central Processing Unit contains all the programs run on a computer. At least 233 MHz in processing speed for a laptop is suggested. There are many types of CPU's but just make sure the laptop you choose has one.
8. Modems: The modem allows you to access the Internet. This is important if the laptop will be used to surf the Web, and send email. There are two primary types of modems used with laptops. There’s the Internal modem, and the PC card-based modem. Internal modems are easier to hook up, and they’re becoming more and more common. PC card-based modems stick out of a computer. Their advantage is that they can be replaced if upgrades to a faster one are needed.
9. Ports: Ports are where the peripherals are applied, such as microphones, cameras, and extra memory. What type of ports do most laptops have? Currently, all laptops feature a serial, a parallel, an infrared, and a universal serial bus (USB) port. The reason why there’re so many different types of ports is because the peripheral equipment corresponds with different types of ports.
That's it. Those are the 9 basics that you should consider when purchasing your next laptop. Utilizing the above information, you’ll be able to make the most informed decisions when acquiring a laptop with suitable features that meet all your needs.

Types Of Computer

Computers are available in different shapes, sizes and weights, due to these different shapes and sizes they perform different sorts of jobs from one another.

They can also be classified in different ways. All the computers are designed by the qualified computer architectures that design these machines as their requirements.
A computer that is used in a home differs in size and shape from the computer being used in a hospital. Computers act as a server in large buildings, while the computer also differs in size and shape performing its job as a weather forecaster.

A student carrying a laptop with him to his college is different in shape and size from all the computers mentioned above. Here we are going to introduce different classifications of computers one by one. We will discuss what are in classifications and what job they perform.

Super computer

The biggest in size, the most expensive in price than any other is classified and known as super computer. It can process trillions of instructions in seconds. This computer is not used as a PC in a home neither by a student in a college.
Governments specially use this type of computer for their different calculations and heavy jobs. Different industries also use this huge computer for designing their products.
In most of the Hollywood’s movies it is used for animation purposes. This kind of computer is also helpful for forecasting weather reports worldwide.

Mainframes

Another giant in computers after the super computer is Mainframe, which can also process millions of instruction per second and capable of accessing billions of data.
This computer is commonly used in big hospitals, air line reservations companies, and many other huge companies prefer mainframe because of its capability of retrieving data on a huge basis.
This kind of computer can cost up to thousands of dollars.

Minicomputer

This computer is next in he line but less offers less than mainframe in work and performance. These are the computers, which are mostly preferred by the small type of business personals, colleges, etc.

Personal computers

Almost all the computer users are familiar with the personal computers. They normally know what the personal computer is and what are its functions. This is the computer mostly preferred by the home users. These computers are lesser in cost than the computers given above and also, small in size; they are also called PCs in short for Personal computers. This computer is small in size and you can easily arrange it to fit in your single bedroom with its all accommodation. Today this is thought to be the most popular computer in all.

Notebook computers

Having a small size and low weight the notebook is easy to carry to anywhere. A student can take it with him/her to his/her school in his/her bag with his/her book. This is easy to carry around and preferred by students and business people to meet their assignments and other necessary tasks.

The approach of this computer is also the same as the Personal computer. It can store the same amount of data and having a memory of the same size as that of a personal computer. One can say that it is the replacement of personal desktop computer.

Importance of Internet Security

In the computer industry, Internet security refers to techniques for ensuring that data stored in a computer cannot be read or compromised by any individuals without authorization. Most security measures involve data encryption and passwords. Data encryption is the translation of data into a form that is unintelligible without a deciphering mechanism. A password is a secret word or phrase that gives a user access to a particular program or system.
Internet security can be achieved through following steps
ISPYour Internet service provider (ISP) should be your first line of defense. If you have a choice, choose an ISP that offers online virus, spam and content filters. This will reduce, but not eliminate, the amount of spam and the number of infected emails that you receive. The content filter is to protect your kids. If you do not have a choice or want to keep your current ISP, consider using an online email service that offers virus and spam filters. For more information, see our Broadband page.
A variety of Privacy Software is available to clean your browser, stop spam, trip up phishing, filter content for kids, catch web bugs, manage cookies, and block banner, pop-up and pop-under ads. These are routers, firewalls, anti-virus, anti-spyware and registry cleaner. For more information, see our Privacy, Anti-Spam and Anti-Phishing pages.
Routers
Routers provide the security from internet using Network Address Translation technique. Network Address Translation (NAT) typically has the effect of preventing connections from being established inbound into a computer, whilst permitting connections out. For a small home network, software NAT can be used on the computer with the Internet connection, providing similar behavior to a router and similar levels of security, but for a lower cost and lower complexity.
Firewalls
A firewall blocks all "roads and cars" through authorized ports on your computer, thus restricting unfettered access. A stateful firewall is a more secure form of firewall, and system administrators often combine a proxy firewall with a packet-filtering firewall to create a highly secure system. Most home users use a software firewall. These types of firewalls can create a log file where it records all the connection details (including connection attempts) with the PC.
Anti-virus
Some people or companies with malicious intentions write programs like computer viruses, worms, Trojan horses and Spyware. These programs are all characterized as being unwanted software that installs automatically on your computer through deception.
Trojan horses are simply programs that conceal their true purpose or include a hidden functionality that a user would not want.Worms are characterized by having the ability to replicate themselves and viruses are similar except that they achieve this by adding their code onto third party software. Once a virus or worm has infected a computer, it would typically infect other programs (in the case of viruses) and other computers.Viruses also slow down system performance and cause strange system behavior and in many cases do serious harm to computers, either as deliberate, malicious damage or as unintentional side effects. In order to prevent damage by viruses and worms, users typically install antivirus software, which runs in the background on the computer, detecting any suspicious software and preventing it from running. Some malware that can be classified as Trojans with a limited payload are not detected by most antivirus software and may require the use of other software designed to detect other classes of malware, including Spyware.
Anti-Spyware
Spyware is software that runs on a computer without the explicit permission of its user. It often gathers private information from a user's computer and sends this data over the Internet back to the software manufacturer. Adware is software that runs on a computer without the owner's consent, much like Spyware. However, instead of taking information, it typically runs in the background and displays random or targeted pop-up advertisements. In many cases, this slows the computer down and may also cause software conflicts.

Where You Should Let Your Child On The Internet

You need to be very careful with this age of technology. Children are on the internet at all times of the day and are finding their ways to places they should not be allowed. With online pornography simply a click away, you need to ensure that the security settings are right on your computer. In fact you may want to ensure that you don't even go to these websites, because it seems like once you do all sorts of adware will pop up for other sites.Who's to say that when this happens your child won't be the one sitting in front of the computer screen, and click yes? It's not hard for a child to lie about their age, kids today are not stupid and they can figure out easily what year they need to be born in to allow them access to this once forbidden landscape of debauchery. All it takes is a simple date; these sites don't go and check what else is up with the person who is coming to their site. Hell they don't even care; they just want those people on their website hopefully purchasing a video or something else.Ok just because you might have to purchase a video doesn't mean that once your child has lied about his age that he's not seeing things that are only intended to be viewed by adult eyes. No in fact as soon as he has hit enter with his or her fake birth date the gates are wide open they will be seeing people unclothed and in acts of well things they just shouldn't be seeing.Society today seems to have such a lax viewpoint on different things, that when I was little were a big deal. Sex was discussed on TV let alone for a kid to even know what the heck it was. We didn't have computers until around age 12. But even so, the internet was not even something that we went on, heck I can't even tell you the first time I went online, it had to be when I was in my 20's. But nowadays there are kids on the computer from who knows what age. With all these different social sites out there they sign up on, and chat to people who may be older then they even admit. We've all seen those 48 hour episodes where these older men sit there and hit on a girl who they think is a teen. They even drive to the girl's house to meet her, some bringing alcohol. What the hell is wrong with our society when these men do this, and some don't even seem to be upset about being caught? Are we so corrupt and unmoral? No we just need to make sure as parents that we are watching what our kids do on the computer and setting the security settings so they can't get on someplace they shouldn't be. Be sure to have your anti-spyware, anti-virus and registry cleaner in alert also. In fact just try and stay off those sites yourself, it will be amazing how much of a difference it will make in raising your child.

Who Did Actually Invent The Computer?

There are a lot of people who don't agree when the first computer was built; in fact many say that the first actual conception of the idea of a computer was by J. H. Smith in 1782. He however never built the computer. His concept was called a difference engine.
Difference engines were put on the backburner until 1822, when Charles Babbage picked up the concept. He created a machine that used a decimal number system, and was powered by the cranking of a handle. Babbage was financed in his research by the British government, but they later would cut that support off. This did not stop Babbage though, he went on to design a more analytical machine, but later on he made it more improved and put out a difference engine , all this happened between 1834 and 1869. Babbage made leaps and bounds in his designs.
Still other people will argue that Babbage's machine was the first electronic computer. While an earlier concept was made called the Antikythera machine, which was a mechanic device that was used to calculate the position of astrological signs. This "earliest computer" was discovered on a shipwreck in the Mediterranean Sea, and it dates back to 250 BC. It's not known who designed this early device but it has been guessed to be designed by Archimedes, because it is similar to some of his other mechanical devices.
However, there are still other people who will argue that the abacus was truly the first computer. These were invented in China somewhere between 2600 BC and 300 BC. These abacus were used by clerks and merchants in China, they are felt to be the first computer by many people.
Alan Turing who was from Cambridge UK, he was drafted to the Bletchley park secret base where the work was being done on the WW3 enigma codes that the Germans were using. It was kept top secret until recently the name of this computer was Colossus; it was smashed into pieces at the end of the war.
The first known "modern computer" was invented during WWII, done by a German engineer named Konrad Zuse in 1941. This computer was named the Z3. It was an analog computer that was designed to stimulate the guidance system for rockets. With some research it was found that Babbage did not build a complete machine. Thus it would be Zuse who invented the first electronic computer. Thus to truly answer who invented the computer it’s not really simple. Really you have to say who all contributed to the make up of the computer. So many different people in history helped with these inventions, by their failures and successes. So over all the first electronic computer was invented by John Vincent Ansoff. It was named the ABC, which stood for Anatasoff Berry Computer.
A lot of people would feel that IBM was the first in designing the PC, but really prior to them was the MITS Altair 8800, Apple II, TRS80, the Atari 800, and of course the Commodore 64. Still others say Altair was not first, but instead it was the Simon by Berkley Enterprises.
